The capital of the "land
of the palm trees": bled el jerid, is worthy
of its name, first for the high quality of the
dates (deglet ennour) produced together with the
nearby oases such as Nefta, El Oudiane and El-Hamma;
then for its architecture made up of bricks creating
pleasant geometric designs on the facades of the
buildings ; and finally for the attractions that
a visitor may find there ; the beautiful mosque
in the Bled al Hadhar neighborhood (the ancient
Thusuros) whose Hispanic Magrebian style mirhab
is attributed to Ibn Ghaniya, an Andalusian refugee
from Palma de Majorca who settled in the jerid
with his following in the 12th century ;
