Cillium / Kasserine
In Kasserine, Cillium's vestiges lie west of
the modern city; these are hardly excavated ruins. One recognises
a triumphal arch reminiscent of the arch of Diocletian in
Sufetula-, the ruins of a Byzantine fortress, and the remains
of what seems to be a Christian basilica... Lower down the
site, a sloping ground shelters a little theatre the tiers
of which open on the wadi Derb...
Cillium has also mausoleums two of which are situated in the
modern town. One has three floors and bears a hundred-and-ten-line
inscription praising the memory of the defunct Flavius Secundus
and his family.
