The medina, a world of lights and traditions
 |
Strolling through the picturesque narrow streets of
the Medina you will be filled with the nostalgia of
ancient Monastir, the city of twelve gates whose names
sound like of twelve gates whose names sond like exotic
fruits : Bab El-Khoukha, Bab -Eddarb, Bab-Bénat,
Bab-Brigch
Here, you are in another world
|
AThe narrow, winding streets, the arched passageways
and the alleys bursting with colours and smells are a hive
of activity, a fabulous Ali Baba's cave where tooled leather
can be found next to engraved silver, the huge carpet bazaar
by the tiny engraver's workwhop - you can hear the tinkle
of his hammer as he plies his age-old craft. It is a disorienting
world, a world of lights, of impressions, of smiles, of gentleness
and peace.
