Thanks to the Sahara Festival, introduced in 1976, Douz has come forth from oblivion.
The delicious oasis with golden sand that was the center of the sedentary Mzarig tribe, host visitors for a few winter days every year. They are attracted by the camel races, parades and battles folklore dances, theatre, exhibits and "fantasia".
