festival
Spécificity :
Polycultural
Session : ( july / august)
Periodicity: Annual
Presentation:
Situated on the shore of the mediterranean
basin, on the northern west of Tunisia, the town of tabarka
is famous for its richness in coral, its rocky underwater
and its shiny sun.
The tabarka international festival started in 1961 under the
name of "coral feast". In 1970 it turned only around
the magic slogan : "Don't lie around in the sun".
Today, it aims at promoting the cultural infrastructure in
order to make of it the linchpin of local animation : consequently,
during summer, the town would become an artistic and cultural
crossroads where the most important talents from allover the
world would perform.
The whole region, with the government help considers this
event as an integrated economic catalyst.
The festival then appeals to anything to discover world cultures,
to organise workshops for different artistic activities, and
to exchange reflections with world wide-known thinkers and
writers. This festival for western and oriental songs and
national folk arts offers a relaxed and culturally-enriching
atmosphere.
