Created in 1971, monastir international festival is considered as the region's most important cultural happening : it takes place at the "ribat"; an imposing end-of-eighth-century fortress. Its rich and varied programme includes a wide range of shows : plays, ballets, movie projections and essentially musical evenings. Furthermore, monastir international festival offers a panorama of other activities such as painting exhibitions, painting workshop, poetical evening .....

Thanks to its international festival, monastir which is already a pretty touristic town located in the tunisian sahel, becomes more animated so, more suitable for receiving a larger number of tunisian or foreign summer visitors from allover the world.
