Duz international festival of sahara is one of the oldest cultural and touristic events of tunisia. the first session dates back to 1967. the principal theme is the cultural patrimony of the "Mrazigs" who originally were nomadic practicing transhumance.

Programme :

1) the traditional wedding and its ceremony procession :

- Race of "meharis" and specially trained dromedaries.
- Purely arab horse racing
- A scene of camel raising : selection of stallions
- A scene of greyhound raising : le sloughi
- Scene of greyghound shooting and dromedary fights where each stallion acts as a defender of his own herd.

2) other cultural events :

- the poetry sparring match where poets coming from different horizons and from bordering countries meet each other
- folk arts concerts and evenings.
- organisation of excursions through the desert and the adjacent dune having a big oriental erg
- fine arts exhibitions (particulary paintings)
- Medical herbs fair
