TAKING A STROLL AMONG THE CAFES AND RESTAURANTS
The coasts of Carthage are host to he richest
variety of cafes and restaurants in the whole of Tunisia.
From the traditional Tunisian café, to the popular
restaurants, and to those which are truly grand, all the delicacies
of Mediterranean cuisine are on offer. The star attraction
is the celebrated "Complet poisson", (the "entire
fish") served in the dozens of restaurants of the Goulette,
sprinkled with "Muscat" or "Sidi Rais".
At the height of the season, the terraces along the coastline
have a festival atmosphere, especially the old cafes of Sidi
Bou Said, in particular the famous café des Nattes,
which is knows as the café on the hill or the Sidi
Chabaane' as it is perched right above the sea.
Here, with the Gulf of Tunisia spread out before you, savour
the exquisite mint tea, with a bouquet of jasmine behind you.
