The national famous dish : couscous which may be prepared with lamb, chiken or fish...it's a delicious dish which is typically Tunisian Among the meat-based recipes, the Tunisian dish which would undoubtedly surprise you the most: "Meloukhia" "Tajines" and stew should be simmered for hours to be soft.Previously it was rigorous to be simmered using live charcoal of "canoune" to be considered as perfect. Tunisian cakes often honeyed (makrouds,samsas,baklavas, gharaibas,...)containing dried fruits: dates, almond, hazelnuts.
The list will be incomplete if you forget the famous muittea, moorish, coffee accompanied with some orange blossom drops.
